Wanna hear a ghost story with credible witnesses? 👻
This may be interesting whether or not you remember the Eastern Air Lines crash in the Everglades on Dec 29, 1972, during a JFK->MIA flight with Captain Bob Loft and Flight Engineer Don Repo in the cockpit.
The cause of the crash was due to their being distracted by a faulty indicator light and kept them noticing that the autopilot had disengaged.
Later, parts of the plane were salvaged and installed on other in-service Eastern Air Lines planes.
Immediately only on the planes that had these salvaged parts,, pilots and other crew members began reporting seeing the ghosts of Loft and/or Repo. Some people suggested that they were trying to warn them about faulty parts they now had on their planes.
Eastern Air Lines never officially confirmed or denied the stories, but after SO many “visitations” were reported, they quietly removed ALL of the salvaged parts. The visits stopped.
In 1976, a nonfiction book was published about all of this called “The Ghost of Flight 401” (Investigative Author John G. Fuller).
An unrelated but related note, I was working at the Delta Air Lines administration building when I’d see the Eastern pilots’ picketing at the airport. The unfortunate resolution was the dissolution of the entire organization of Eastern Air Lines which ceased to exist January, 1991. CEO Frank Lorenzo was very anti-union and fed up with not being able to appease the pilot Union, sold off the most profitable parts of the airline to others which included Continental airlines and … wait for it… Donald Trump.
