Just saw a question about whether I ever dissected a frog in school.
I’m the 10 yr-old kid who chased a feral tom cat through a swamp for hours to rescue a kitten it had taken from its nursing mom. I cried for 2 days when I couldn’t find it.
I’m the 18-year-old who got my finger smashed so badly by a machine that, when I saw all the blood, I closed my eyes and put my hand down to my side. I don’t remember anything else until someone poured alcohol over it in another room before taking me to the ER.
To this day, along with some of my most fun, precious memories, I am haunted by very normal things I saw at my grandparents’ farms. They had fields to tend and hard chores to manage their animals (I still remember some of the names I gave to cows, pigs, mules and chickens).
Most of my experiences became things that filled me with gratitude for having such hardworking families who managed to put food on the table every single day no matter how hard times were.
Regarding whether or not I have dissected a frog, I have one snapshot memory of sitting in a DCHS science classroom looking down at something. I don’t remember anything after that. I may have (I really doubt it). I just don’t know. 🤔🙃🐸
