Debbie and I had been married for a couple of years when my car wouldn’t start. Debbie wasn’t home at the time, and it really wouldn’t have mattered because I didn’t own any jumper cables anyway so there would have been no way for her to help jump off the car. So I called Bennie who at that time was in partnership with Charlie Moore at the City Barber Shop next to the courthouse in Douglasville. The NAPA auto parts store just happened to be right next to the barber shop.
I asked Bennie if he would go next door and get me some jumper cables and bring them over so I could get my car started.
At that time you could get cables for about $3 or $4 for a half decent set. About a half hour later Bennie showed up with a NICE set of cables. $15.00 WORTH! I nearly passed out.
But I paid for them and it turned out well. I got my car started and today, over 50 years later, I still have those same battery cables! After many successful “jumps”, they still look and work like new.
Thank you Bennie, you sure knew the value of a good set of cables.
Oh, and today (March 24, 2025), I just checked at NAPA today and those same cables are available for $105.99. Wow! Thanks again Bennie!
