For as long as I can remember — my entire life — some things I counted on never changing in New Georgia:
- The older’n dirt oak tree on Pine Shadows Drive whose huge, above the ground roots were the source of many, many, many obstacle course trainings when I was a kid playing at my Grandma and Grandpa Hix’ house;
- The broken, falling down brick fireplace left from my grand grandparents’ house near Lindsey Lake;
- Clyde Cole’s home place
- Speed and Joann Seals’ chairs in the front yard, sometimes empty and sometimes not at which times you’d always get a friendly wave
- He was a professional baseball
All these things have changed. And tonight, I went to Eberhart’s Funeral Home in Dallas to say goodbye to Speed Seals.
