I have a close friend who still has a great relationship with her now grown children. I know some of the horrible things she went through as a single mom that she makes sure her kids will never know. She feels knowing would hurt them more even while not knowing sometimes makes her look like the villain.
As much as I know she loves her mom, her daughter rarely misses an opportunity to slam my friend “publicly” for the timing of giving her “The Talk’ about STDs when she was a kid.
My friend just smiles behind the hurt and says nothing.
The truth is that the timing had everything to do with the fact that the mom knew her boyfriend at the time had one.
